The Cost of a Bargain Hair Transplant

The Cost of a Bargain Hair Transplant

For those unhappy with their hair loss hair transplant cost is always a concern. A patient that is a hair transplant candidate should be more concerned with the results than the cost. At Dermatology & Hair Restoration Specialists, Dr. Sean Behnam performs many repairs on patients who are unhappy with the results of a “bargain” hair transplant.  Whether it was performed in another country or by a doctor here in the states who does poor work, patients always regret trying to save money on something as crucial as appearance.  What is the cost of being unhappy with your appearance? What is the cost of making an expensive mistake that you are reminded of every time you look in the mirror? If you look at the amount of money a person makes in a lifetime, it doesn’t make sense to try and save money on something so important and permanent. For a surgery that is so connected to a person’s well-being, it does not make sense to contract it to the lowest bidder. A pluggy hair line is always noticed and patients who have a pluggy hair line usually say “I’m tired of wearing hats” and “I wish I would have never tried to save money on my previous transplant” or something to that effect. Dr. Sean guarantees that every transplant he performs will look natural. What is that worth? Seriously, when choosing a hair transplant doctor one should I ask “ what is it worth to me to have it look natural?”

We have met many patients who thought they were being wise by saving on their hair transplant only to then be forced to spend more to have it repaired. We have no interest in being the cheapest or the most expensive. Our interest lies in helping patients achieve their goals by providing the best service that we can provide for a fair price. A fair price for all parties involved. We have no interest in haggling just as we have no interest in negotiating our standards, the pre-op or post op care requirements. Patients that get more than 1800 grafts, pay for 1800. The amount of grafts that can be transplanted is contingent on the density and the laxity of the patient’s scalp. A patient can do a scalp stretching exercise to have more laxity but a patient who has low donor quality should consider FUE. These are the issues that are worked out in the free consultation where the patient is given a clear understanding of what can be accomplished and the cost.
